The Masmoudi rhythm dance for advanced level was demonstrated at a Student and Teachers Concert, November 2007 "Shimmering Sahara Stars". The dance illustrates advance techniques combining semi choreography and free dancing. Strong movements are contrasted with more subtle Egyptian movements. The dance includes travelling steps, swirling and spinning around the stage to stationary, on the spot, snake like mesmerising movements.
Renee
conducts many varied, wonderful and fascinating belly dance WORKSHOPS for
beginners, intermediate to advanced levels, including teachers training. Renee
uses and works with many different music including Egyptian, Lebanese, Turkish,
Syrian, Arabic, as well as Baladi, Cabaret, Belly-Latin and Belly-Spanish
crossover.
THE WORKSHOPS
include - Learn to comprehend the rhythm, allowing the body, mind and spirit
to move and flow within it, creating a magical flowing style where techniques
are isolated, alternated or layered producing grace, elegance, attitude, artistry
and polish. Student learn to be aware of good body line, where the head should
be, learn to use arms and hands effectively, understanding musical phrasing,
pace, beat and changes that occur through out the dance. Use and learn to
listen to the nuances and feeling the music. Allow your emotions to be interactive
within the techniques. Being able to dance each phrase differently, without
repeating.
Workshops are geared to suit all levels including teachers.
You will learn to create magical dances fit for a Queen and King
This clip was edited from a completed 5 minute dance, which was the opening segment of the concert.
Isis Wings is another one of Renee MAGICAL WORKSHOPS. A solid veil dancing workshop which included Isis Wings is the best way of approaching the wings. It is best to first learn good veil techniques. Once a student has a firm grip of flowing veil techniques, learning to handle Isis Wings becomes easy and can be used in a dramatic but elegant style. Often I see students jump straight into Isis Wing and they end up looking un-coordinated, lame, wilted and graceless.
The workshop can be geared for beginners, intermediate to advanced levels. Veil and Isis Wings can be taught at all levels. The video clip is for the intermediate to advanced student. You need strong arm techniques for Isis Wings, must stronger than veil work. You also need basic foot and body techniques. Isis Wings (and veil ) can be danced to a slow or fast tempo. It is also important to execute continuous and flowing movements for the wings to stay alive. Otherwise they will droop and die. You need to comprehend the rhythm, allowing the arms and body mind and spirit to flow as one. Veil work or Isis Wings can be fully choreographed or semi with free fall.
Learn
to listen and feel the music. Let your emotions interact with the veil and
wing techniques, understand the musical phrasing, pace, beat and changes that
occur through out the dance. Treating all phrase differently, without repeating
the same techniques, but adding another twist. Use big sweeping movements
alternating with smaller flowing segments. Learn to slow down and then picking
up speed. Incorporate snake arms and undulations to make a performance mesmerising.
Steps, turns and spins are very important, learn to cover your floor or stage
space, knowing when to stop to highlight techniques. Give out some emotional
expression through out or in between. allowing your personality to shine through.
Your soul will delight and sore when you create a magical experience fit for
the Gods.

There are some wonderful dances for beginners, also dances for second year level, beyond beginners, which include a charming veil dance. Intermediates ( third and fourth year levels) are represented by a Saaidi dance as well as a dance including Zills.
An interesting act which features an opera singer, with a teacher dancing to her song. Slow and sensuous with surprising shimmies. Another dance is Tribal cross over into Spanish. Two teachers, of about 7 years experience, perform a sassy Saaidi Stick Dance. Renee's dances represents advanced level of nearly 15 years. Her program includes the dramatic display of Isis Wings and an elegant and artistic interpretation of a Masmoudi rhythm dance.
